Info
Family group from Scioto Country Ohio consisting of mother and songwriter Sylvia Trace and her daughters Darlene and Teena. The group began around 1945 singing at family gatherings until their repuation grew to travel to churches in their area and perform. They released their first single on their own label Trace Trio in the early 1950s, later being signed to King Records in late 1952. By 1956 King reported that their "records are the most consistent sellers of any of the Sacred singing groups around today." Between the early 50s and 1963 the group traveled and played in Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky among other locations in the south and midwest; however, in 1963 Sylvia Trace received significant injuries after falling down a set of stairs which effectively ended the Trace Family Trio's career.
Their songs were recorded by many other acts including The Happy Goodmans, Buck Ledford, the Stanely Brothers and Wade Mainer among others.
