Family band created by A.L. Phipps inspired by the Carter Family.  Although their style was very similar to the Carters they wrote some of their own music and did many songs in their own style.  They self released many of their records on their own Mountain Records and later Pine Mountain Records.  The group was based near Barbourville, KY.
